Join the Centre of Expertise on child sexual abuse (CSA Centre), Barnardo’s SEEN Centre for children and young people of African, Asian and Caribbean heritage and the Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit at London Metropolitan University to celebrate the publication of an essential knowledge review on the sexual abuse of African, Asian and Caribbean heritage children.

Drawing on 79 publications, based on 59 separate research projects, and four focus group sessions with African, Asian and Caribbean heritage academics, professionals and experts by experience, this knowledge review explores what we know about the nature of sexual abuse, its impacts, the barriers that prevent children talking about it, and the response of statutory and voluntary sector agencies. It includes detailed analysis of the available literature as well as feedback on discussions with stakeholders. The report also offers a strong agenda for future research.

Please join us to hear Ghino Parker talk about why the research was commissioned, Dr. Sukhwant Dhaliwal (author) talk us through her findings and the areas for further research, and Professor Claudia Bernard’s reflections on the report.

We welcome you to join the discussion and join with us to tackle child sexual abuse.
