Salary: £28,000 pa, pro rata

Hours: Part time, 15 hours (2 days) per week

Location: Kent (Canterbury/Ashford/Folkestone & Hythe)

Contract: 12 months (maternity cover)

About the Group:

The Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service is a registered charity supporting women and children affected by domestic violence in Canterbury and East Kent.

We support our users through every step of removing abuse from their lives and improving their safety.

Job purpose:

We are looking for a qualified counsellor with an understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on children, as well as trauma informed practice.

The CYP Counsellor will deliver counselling either in school or another appropriate location, with the support and supervision of the Rising Sun Therapeutic Service Manager (Anne Lyttle) who will be responsible for screening and allocating the referrals. You’ll provide therapeutic trauma informed counselling to young people with a range of difficulties due to the impact of domestic abuse/coercive control.

You will usually see a child/young person individually, but at times it may be appropriate to see them with their safe parent or other family members. We support children and young people across Canterbury, Ashford, Folkestone & Hythe, however depending on your location we will try to allocate you clients who are close to where you are based.

This is Women only position and is subject to satisfactory references and enhanced DBS check
