Due to exciting new funding opportunities, Fortalice is looking to recruit a specialist worker to support medium-level complex cases. The posts will be based from our Outreach Support Centre in Bolton with sessions held both within the Centre and schools.

Background Information:

Fortalice was established in 1977 to provide emergency accommodation and support for women and children experiencing domestic abuse within their own homes.

Purpose of the role:

The Children and Young People’s Worker will support young people ages 11-19 from the Bolton area to work through trauma as a result of exposure to Domestic Abuse and Violence (DAV). The Worker will be allocated medium-level complex cases, supporting these young people both individually and as part of group work sessions. Some work with the whole family/support network will be offered where appropriate. Identifying and assisting with safeguarding issues is a key part of this role.

Key skills:

· Knowledge of and empathy with the aims and objectives of Fortalice and the issues relating to domestic abuse.

· An ability to support children and young people with complex issues including challenging behaviour, mental health issues, self-harm and risk taking behaviour

· An ability to build and develop supportive relationships with children and young people, maintaining professional boundaries.

· Excellent knowledge of multi-agency working within Bolton when working with children and young people with complex issues.

· A sound understanding of safeguarding, Child Protection, Early Help, Adults at Risk and a commitment to follow procedure.
