Salary/ Rate: £23,451 per annum, with a 4% rise upon successful completion of probation

Stockport Without Abuse (SWA) is a grassroots charity committed to supporting our vision ofbeveryone having a right to live in safety, and to have a future without fear of domestic abuse. We work directly with women, men and children who have experienced or are at risk of domestic abuse.

We are looking to recruit a Children and Young People’s (CYP) Refuge Worker to join our CYP team and work with children and young people residing in our Refuge safe accommodation service who have been affected by domestic abuse. The CYP Refuge Worker will deliver both one-to-one support and small group sessions to children aged 0-16, to support their socialisation skills and integration into a new living environment. They will also support families transition into a new living environment, and promote effecting parenting skills.

Main purpose of the post:

• Work as part of the Refuge and dispersed properties casework team, taking a specific lead on supporting children, developing detailed and practical support plans for the children that are outcome-based.

• Attend relevant professional meetings to support the needs of the child or young person, and make contact and work collaboratively with relevant professionals to do so.

• Identify and manage risk issues and carry out relevant risk assessments in order to safeguard children and young people in the refuge or dispersed properties, reporting any safeguarding issues in line with organisation policies.
