About us:

The Pankhurst Trust (Incorporating Manchester Women’s Aid (PTMWA) is a women-led organisation whose vision is to ensure that people, suffering, or at risk of domestic abuse receive appropriate support. We assist recovery by providing safe accommodation, specialist support services and by working in partnership with other agencies. We also run the only museum dedicated to telling the story of women’s fight for the right to vote at our Pankhurst Centre headquarters.

About the role: Youth Engagement Worker (1 role)

This role is designed to work together with young people to increase their confidence, skills and ability to direct change. The focus of your work may change over time as projects come to an end and new projects are commissioned.

All roles are subject to a DBS check, and we seek 2 x references, 1 of whom must be your current employer if applicable.

The initial project you will be working on will be a Comic Relief funded RECLAIM/PTMWA partnership project called ‘Full Time Fierce’. This project is led by RECLAIM and is supported by PTMWA.

As part of this project you will work alongside the RECLAIM Programme Manager and deliver PTMWA’s contribution to project-based outreach youth work, working in schools and holding 1-1s with young people and participating in other elements of the project’s work.

To undertake this role you will need to be flexible. The RECLAIM project will, for example, involve regular working late on Tuesdays and twice a month on Saturdays.

The post holder will be expected to work within PTMWA policies and uphold the values of the organisation.

This role has been assessed and confirmed as open to women only under the Equality Act 2010, schedule 9, part 1

Hours of work: 17.5 per week

Salary: £24,832 per annum (Pro rata)

Duration: Permanent (subject to funding)

Annual Leave: 25 days plus Bank Holidays, pro rata for part-time workers
