“Honour has nothing to do with it at all.”
Bekhal Mahmod made legal history & helped bring her father, uncle & 3 other men to justice for the murder of her beloved sister, Banaz.
Bakhal is campaigning with Southall Black Sisters for Banaz’s law, which would make misogynistic cultural or religious defences aggravating, not mitigating, factors in cases of femicide and gender-based violence.
Bekhal now has a new identity after entering the police witness protection programme. She has written a book telling her story, due for release in July – pre-order here – https://amzn.to/3tV2lBk
