The project has expanded over the years and now provides a diverse range of services for adults, families, children and young people within both Refuge and Outreach Support Centre. The ethos of Fortalice in relation to support is to focus on self-help, promoting self-esteem, developing news skills, confidence and independence to enable victims to break free from abusive relationships and reduce the chance of re-victimisation, this moving on to a self-sustaining, independent life.

The post is based at Lewis House, a purpose built Refuge comprising of 22 self-contained flats, OFSTED registered Children’s Services, offices, a meeting room and a communal area in which group activities can be facilitated. This facility is staffed on a 24 hour basis by DAV Recovery Support Workers.

Team Leader – Refuge

Full time – 35 hours

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Team Leader to support our highly experienced team at our Lewis House Refuge. The post will involve various duties to meet the needs of the organisation.

Purpose of the role:

As Team Leader at Lewis House, you will be responsible for the work the staff team carries out at the Refuge in line with KPI’s. The role will involve providing clear direction, support and supervision for the staff team whilst managing workloads to ensure the smooth running of operations. A significant part of the role will be management of the service delivery and some aspects of safeguarding.

Key skills:

  • An understanding of the support required by individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.
  • An understanding of trauma informed practice and an ability to work in a person centred manner.
  • A working knowledge of risk and complex needs assessments and individual support plans.
  • An excellent understanding of child protection, Early Help, adults at risk and a commitment to follow procedure.
  • An understanding of housing management and housing related support within a residential setting.
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead, communicate well, motivate and supervise a team in a constructive and supportive way in a busy working environment.
