FGM is a cruel practice carried out on girls globally for many years, leaving them with life long complications and trauma.

As a survivor myself, I have devoted my life to end this cruel practice and although we have come a long way, there is still so much more to achieve in this journey to put an end to FGM.


  • Sophie Linden is London’s Deputy Mayor for Policing and Crime (DMPC) and brings with her national and local government experience. She was a special advisor to David Blunkett in the Department for Education and Employment from 1997-2001 before moving to the Home Office to work with the police in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour as a special advisor until 2004.
  • Kirsty Brimelow is a barrister of England and Wales and QC at Doughty Street Chambers. She practises in the national and international courts and tribunals in international human rights, criminal law and public law. She is a Bencher of Gray’s Inn and elected member of its management committee.
  • Cllr Grace Williams is the second woman to lead the council leader of Waltham Forest Council after being backed by Labour group members.
  • Cllr Williams, of William Morris ward in Walthamstow, is currently the cabinet member in charge of children and families.
  • Sulieman Hashi is a Somali born male activist against female genital mutilation who has made a huge difference educating men & boys on this cruel practice.
  • Jennette Arnold OBE is a Human Rights & Social Justice Activist & Lifelong Campaigner against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). She is a British politician and social justice and equality activist who served as a member of the London Assembly from 2000 to 2021, and was its Chair for 6 terms.
