Event – Certain Curtain Theatre Company – Mockingbird High

The Connect Centre is delighted to present a live performance of ‘MOCKINGBIRD HIGH’ by Certain Curtain Theatre Company – a professional touring theatre company based in Preston – on Thursday 2nd December at 6pm. This event provides us with the opportunity to mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.  It also celebrates the development of Certain Curtain’s new digital Theatre Package which will be made available for community groups, schools and support staff/organisations working with children and young people.

About Mockingbird High: This domestic violence and abuse (DVA) drama explores the impact of DVA on two teenage children and their mother. It examines the different effects from conception to teenage years, on girls and boys, the ‘cycle of abuse,’ sexual abuse and bullying, child protection issues and patterns of abusive behaviour. This production offers a unique experience for anyone working with children and young people. Including midwives, school nurses, teachers, social workers as well as providing a insight into the issues for general public awareness campaigns.

The event will be in a large lecture theatre with a socially distanced audience. Refreshments will be made available as part of the after-show discussion with the cast. As the performance is free, you are welcome to make a donation directly to Certain Curtain on the day. There is limited availability so please book your place at   https://mockingbird-high.eventbrite.co.uk
