People didn’t used to talk about domestic abuse, but we
now know it is very common. Although most victims of domestic abuse
are women and most abusers are men, domestic abuse can affect anyone,
including:

• People who live with their partner
• People who don’t live with their partner
• Married and unmarried people
• Children and parents
• Women and men
• Younger and older people
• Heterosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people
• People with disabilities
• People from any social group or culture
