Immigration Issues

There are a number of issues facing abused women with insecure immigration status, due to entering the UK to join their settled partner. Some immigration laws and regulations make it extremely difficult for women experiencing domestic abuse to seek protection and safety. Help and advice is available from the Helplines (contact numbers on this page) and the South Manchester Law Centre and North Manchester Law Centre (contact details in the Directory). Information can also be found on websites such as the national Womens Aid website link icon  www.womensaid.org.uk
