The Women’s Support Centre offers services to any woman or young person whose life is affected by domestic abuse.
We offer advice on issues relating to domestic abuse and what services are available within the area. Where appropriate, we will signpost to an alternative service better able to respond to the circumstances or nature of the enquiry.
We also offer a free counselling service and personal development training together with group-work promoting confidence and self esteem. and awareness raising training for practitioners whose work may involve issues relating to domestic abuse.
The centre is open Monday to Friday 9am-4pm and the first contact should always be by telephone.

Paws for Kids– becomes the ‘Endeavour Project’
As you may know, during our 18-year lifespan we have now successfully established four core services:
- Pets Service- North West
- Safe Haven Outreach Project- Bolton
- Independent Domestic Violence Advocacy Service (IDVA)- Bolton
- Young Persons Domestic Violence Advisor (YPDVA)- Bolton
Paws for Kids remains the registered name with the Charities Commission and nothing else about us has changed apart from the service logos which have been adapted to create an ‘Endeavour family’. We all look upon this as a very positive evolutionary step and we hope you share our enthusiasm.
We will Endeavour to end domestic abuse for people and their pets.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, (GMFRS), are more than happy to have their offer of a free Home Safety Check, ( Being widened to a Safe and Well Check from September 2015), to anyone who has been affected by domestic violence. The checks are completely free and a client can request a female officer to attend if required. We offer a 24/7 service and can come out at short notice where a referral is deemed to be urgent. We can also fit letter box covers and give advice on security in the home if required. My team regularly give “Fire Safety In the Home” presentations to groups and would be happy to hear from you if this is required by any of your teams. I have included a summary explanation of what’s on offer below: – Fire Safety Check. Are you and your family safe? In Greater Manchester we are committed to reducing fire deaths and injuries by ensuring that every home in the county has a working smoke alarm. To make certain this happens, we now carry out FREE Home Safety Checks, which can include the fitting of FREE smoke alarms. We carry out around 60,000 Home Safety Checks every year. Along with fitting free smoke alarms, we also give occupiers safety advice so they can keep their homes and families as safe as possible.
What is a Home Safety Check?
When you book a Home Safety Check, we will visit your home at an allocated time and accompany you around every room in your property with the aim of:
Identifying and making you aware of the potential fire risks in your home
Making sure you know what to do in order to reduce or prevent these risks
Helping you put together an escape plan in case a fire breaks out in the future
Ensuring you have a working smoke alarm and if you don’t, we will fit a FREE ten year smoke alarm.
Where a resident has been the victim of domestic abuse, we can look to see if a letter box cover may be appropriate and discuss different options to help keep you safe in your home. Booking a FREE Home Safety Check couldn’t be simpler. Simply call 0800 555 815
