TDAS is an independent voluntary organisation which is affiliated to Women’s Aid Federation England. TDAS and has been operating since June 1990. TDAS is a company Limited by guarantee and a registered charity.
TDAS is the only specialist agency in Trafford to deliver both intervention and prevention services to adults and children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.
Purpose of the role
To facilitate and be responsible for the operational delivery of an adult victims group and a children and young person’s group, in order to gather feedback from those experiencing domestic abuse or are impacted by Domestic Abuse to inform future service developments.
The facilitator will deliver a series of group meetings, on a regular basis, with adults, children and young people at risk of and / or experiencing domestic abuse/parental conflict.
The need for this service has been identified under the Domestic Abuse Act (2021), where there is a duty placed on Local Authorities to launch a Local Partnership Board which will have representation of the voice of the victim and children and young people.
We also know that young people cite transport as a barrier to accessing some services so the support will need to be delivered locally to children and young people.
You will work as part of a skilled, multi-disciplinary staff team and must be approachable and highly motivated in supporting and encouraging people experiencing domestic violence/abuse to make informed choices in order to determine their own future.
• To lead on developing and facilitating an adult victim group, which will meet on a regular basis to discuss current provision within Trafford and gather feedback on victim’s needs and wants moving forward.
• To develop separate children and young people’s groups, of different age ranges (5 – 7yr olds, 8 – 11yr olds and 12 – 14yr olds), to gather feedback from those under 25 years old on their experiences of domestic abuse.
• Providing an environment for victims of domestic abuse and children/young people in which their physical, emotional, intellectual and social wellbeing is promoted
• Providing an environment for victims of domestic abuse and children/young people in which they feel safe to express themselves and to share their feelings and experience
To apply for this position it is essential that you have a NNEB/NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in social care or education.
You must also have minimum of 2 years experience of working with adults and/or young people and knowledge and understanding of the effects of domestic abuse on adults, children and young people. It is essential that you have an up to date knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding.
