About us:

PTMWA is a women-led organisation whose vision is to ensure that people, suffering, or at risk of domestic abuse receive appropriate support. We assist recovery by providing safe accommodation, specialist support services and by working in partnership with other agencies. We also run the only museum dedicated to telling the story of women’s fight for the right to vote at our Pankhurst Centre headquarters.

Emerge Trainee – 2 roles available

This is a Trainee position where the postholder will undergo a 2-year training programme designed to build proficiency in the main duties and responsibilities as listed in the job profile. This will include experiences across all areas of support for domestic abuse survivors including referral line and refuge in the main but also in outreach and groupwork as required.

The postholder will be responsible for supporting the Emerge Workers in their delivery of the service user families experience in refuge, ensuring that individuals’ therapeutic, practical and emotional needs are met within a psychologically informed environment. Other duties will include:

Responding safely to requests for support, information and advice from survivors and external agencies and delivering support interventions to increase the safety and wellbeing of survivors of domestic abuse and their children. You will also assist and empower survivors to recover and regain control over their lives.

This role has been assessed and confirmed as open to women only under the Equality Act 2010, schedule 9, part 1. We are looking for applicants who are 18 years +

Hours of work: 35 per week on a rota covering the hours of 09.00 – 20.00

Salary: Minimum Wage (dependant on age)

Duration: 2 year fixed term with a 6 month probationary period.

Annual Leave: 25 days plus Bank Holidays,
